Early Years Team around a Child
Childminders can access ‘in the home’ SEND advice and support through the Early Years Team around the Child [EY TAC] process in Solihull.
You may want to liaise with the health visitor linked to the child [form above to contact] before completing an EY TAC referral.

As an advisory team working across Solihull, we are committed to updating you on the Solihull Speech, Language and Communication Needs pathway [SLCN]. Our aim is for one person from every school and group setting to attend this SLCN pathway ‘re launch’. As a ‘communication champion’ we hope that after attending the event, you will feed back to your team and to leaders to ensure the support that is available in Solihull is understood. We will also outline the best practice expectation and support available to you from other sources. This means the teams will work hard to ensure every setting chooses 1 of the events to attend.
How does your Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) support disadvantaged children?
Leaders make sure that their approach to disadvantaged children and/or those with SEND is sustained, including through ongoing training and support for staff. The use of the early years pupil premium is monitored effectively so that it has a demonstrable, positive impact on children’s learning, development and welfare. Ofsted Toolkit 2025
EYPP is now an additional £1 to the hourly rate. This is £570.00 for each eligible child who takes up the full 570 hours of Early Education Funding they are entitled to. The Education Endowment Foundation EEF guidance can help you evidence the above expected standard.

Today I’m going to finish with a quiz…..
- What are the statutory points of assessment in EYFS? That you MUST complete in an early years setting?
- What age is the best time to start toilet training?
- How much screen time is recommended for children aged 0 to 24 months?
If you got 2 or 3/ 3 you should treat yourselves to a short walk in the sunshine next time you can. 😊 well done
Answers :
- Assessment– Progress check at age 2 years old and the early years foundation stage profile >>> yes you have to complete the profile at the end of the summer for Reception age children in nursery. Contact your early years adviser to talk about what you have to do to help children reach the early years goals and assess them.
- Toilet training – remember ‘pull ups are nappies so being trained means children wearing underwear not nappies/ pull ups.. 18 months to 30 months
- Screen time– no screen time is recommended 0-2y [Health Professional for Safer Screens- HPSS] Look at the attached ‘technoference’ posters and resources from HPSS.
