Fairtrade fortnight – tea themed art project

The Sustainable Development Team is looking for schools to create 3D art to be displayed in shop windows and the Library in Solihull Town Centre for the Fairtrade Trail. The trail sheets and maps will be available over the February half term and the following week. This year’s theme is ‘Tea’, a resource pack is available for schools from charlotte.oliver@solihull.gov.uk Art work must be finished by the 13th February 2019 and can be collected from schools.

EYFSP – assessment and reporting arrangements

The 2019 early years foundation stage: assessment and reporting arrangements (ARA) has now been released along with the EYFSP statistics for the national early years foundation stage profile results: 2017 to 2018. LA opportunities for EYFSP moderation will be available in autumn and spring terms. This term the focus will be PSE and will take place at Sans Souci 22/23rd November 2018 booking through inset@solihull.gov.uk. The EYFSP data will be explored at EY Leaders and Managers on Friday 9th November 2018. For further information, please see below.

EYFS SEND training for 30 hours early education funded children

Earlier this year Solihull local authority was successful in its bid for additional funding to support the take up of 30 hours by early education funded children. We have been able to book Julie Revels to deliver EYFS SEND training in June. Julie has supported the development of the NASEN EY SEND training materials and has a vast range of experience as a trainer and consultant specialising in inclusion in the early years. EYFS profile moderation training – literacy development

Exciting opportunities

Tuesday 24 September - you and/or interested colleagues are invited to Solihull school along with a group of students (secondary) for a unique event about the extraordinary life story of Eva Schloss. Eva will take part in a Q&A after a performance of and then they came for me, a critically acclaimed play about her remarkable family history and an exhibition, the promise, about the artistic talents her brother Heinz cultivated whilst hiding from the Nazis for two years. It is the first time the play and the exhibition will be shown together.

Wednesday 25 September - CPD day for colleagues (KS2/secondary) nationwide on tackling prejudice and discrimination in a digital age: what can schools do? As well as incorporating three events of the programme outlined above, the day will also involve a series of prominent speakers and organisations who will cover a broad range of contemporary topics, whilst providing practical advice and measure for teachers interested in developing such initiatives in their own schools.
