More info: EYFSP is a statutory process. It involves reception teachers and early years practitioners making judgements against a set of 17 early learning goals [ELGs]. This meeting gives all those making end of year EYFSP judgements the opportunity to discuss the EYFSP guidance. It also gives you the chance to compare the typical knowledge, skills and understanding demonstrated by children at the end of reception.
The EYFSP Handbook state ‘Moderation of EYFS Profile assessments should be a collaborative process with colleagues. This supports the quality assurance of assessment judgements and provides a valuable opportunity for professional development’. These peer-to-peer moderation conversations should, as far as possible, be based on the teacher’s own knowledge of their children not extensive evidence collection. It is important for teachers to build a shared understanding of the ELGs and the EYFS framework. By working together, we hope to share experiences and develop assessment skills and confidence. Please bring examples of evidence against ELGs if you feel this would be useful.
