‘Annual Visit’ for setting SENCOs

All SENCOs at PVI settings are offered an ‘Annual Visit’ to support you with developing your setting’s SEND provision, as well as increasing your own knowledge and skills in SEND practices.

An ‘Annual Visit’ is a bespoke one hour 1:1 meeting with your Area SENCO on a topic chosen by you, the setting SENCO from a range of options.

Some example topics include:

  • Funding for SEND in the early years: what you can apply for and how.
  • Applying for an EHCP: advice and tips on what is needed to be successful.
  • Supporting parents and having difficult conversations.
  • Early identification of SEND. Assessment and what to do before asking for help from outside agencies.
  • Creating an appropriate sensory environment for different children with SEND.
  • Developing CPD and SEND understanding for staff in your setting.
  • Developing an inclusive behaviour policy in your setting.

Based on your current knowledge, your Area SENCO will offer additional information, guidance and advice as well as signposting to useful resources to give you the skills and tools to improve SEND practice in your setting.
