EYFS- updated guidance

DfE have produced updated EYFS statutory guidance for 1st November 2024. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework–2

We have clarified that the ‘Childminder EYFS Framework’ applies to childminders both with, and without, domestic premises. We have also confirmed that childminders who are registered without domestic premises need to inform parents and carers that they cannot provide any provision from domestic premises (unless they hold a separate domestic premises registration for the specific premises). On the ‘EYFS statutory framework for group and school-based providers’ we have clarified the qualification requirements for staff counting in the level 6 staff: child ratios in early years settings.

EYFS safeguarding changes for September 2025

The results of this safeguarding consultation [DfE] are here –  Early years foundation stage (EYFS) safeguarding – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

 Safeguarding -SSCP

As you know there is an expectation that DSLs attend SSCP training modules to meet the needs of the setting. SSCP have developed some safeguarding training with Family Hubs which is specifically targeted to practitioners supporting young children [safeguarding babies under 2]. They have also recently run some evening sessions as a result of feedback.

Please let us know which module(s) you intend to attend this academic year [they are free to attend as long as you do attend]. This is just to tell SSCP how many training sessions they need to provide -rather than a commitment to attend or any names. Scan to access the form below – we will share numbers with SSCP.

If you don’t attend Solihull safeguarding children partnership multi-agency training, then we would like to know what prevents you from attending.

Updates to guidance and SSCP training information is within the regular SSCP newsletter which we suggest those in a lead safeguarding role should sign up to. https://www.safeguardingsolihull.org.uk/lscp?s=newsletter
