During November a range of domestic abuse awareness material has been sent out to schools across the borough. This is part of Solihull’s approach to raising awareness and promoting an early intervention. It will be appreciated if these can be displayed in a public area and thank you for your help.

The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) qualification is specifically designed for individuals who wish to act as a first aider in their workplace.

Attendees will learn how to manage a range of injuries and illnesses that could occur at work and will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give emergency first aid.

What’s more, as a regulated qualification, employers can book this course for their employees and rest assured that they have fulfilled their legal responsibilities for providing quality first aid training, without having to undertake any lengthy due diligence checks introduced in the recent HSE changes. Ofsted published their report into ‘The Reception curriculum in a sample of good and outstanding primary schools’ called ‘Bold Beginnings’ last week. The opening comment states ‘A good early education is the foundation for later success. For too many children, however, their Reception Year is a missed opportunity that can leave them exposed to all the painful and unnecessary consequences of falling behind their peers.’ We will explore the key findings at the spring term LA leaders and managers meetings (5^th and 6^th March 2018) and explore how schools make sure their curriculum is ‘fit for purpose’.
