Video: School dental surveys
A new video has been published to inform parents about what happens when a child takes part in Public Health England’s school dental surveys. The purpose of the video is to inform parents and schools about the surveys and help increase the numbers of parents who return consent forms to allow their children to take part. Dental decay among young children remains an important public health issue as it leads to pain and distress, sleepless nights for children and parents, and time off school and work. The oral health survey of 5-year-old children takes place every two years to collect dental health information for children aged 5 years old who attend mainstream, state-funded schools across England. It is carried out as part of the PHE National Dental Epidemiology Programme for England. The two minute video provides a visual explanation of the process and is aimed at parents and school staff. Solihull schools forum meeting documents for the Monday, 27th September 2018. Solihull Schools Forum was established as part of the requirements of the Education Act 2002. The principal requirement is for Local Authorities to consult their Schools Forums on a range of financial matters concerning schools' budgets.
The Cameron Grant Memorial Trust was established by Carol and Evan Grant to mark their son’s life. Cameron took his own life in November 2014 aged just 21. He suffered from depression for seven years before he died, but managed to hide this from his family and everyone who knew him. For more information about the charitable aims of the Trust, please click link below. The website also has details of how you can participate in a ‘night walk’ to raise money for the charity and order ‘Cameron’s coasters’. The purpose of the coasters is to encourage those with poor mental health to speak up and ask for help.
