Headteachers are reminded that the revised Sickness Absence Management (SAM) policy has been uploaded onto the Solgrid Extranet.  The revised policy (and guidance notes) has a number of changes including an amended trigger point – 4 occasions of absence within a 12 month rolling period replaces three periods of absence over the previous six months.   This will have the effect of increasing the number of employees who will be required to attend a Stage 1 sickness absence review meeting. The new policy will need to be ratified by the Governing Body during the first half term, with the aim of being implemented by 1 November 2018. Schools will also need to make arrangements to ensure all employees are familiar with the policy and have access to it. For more information please see briefing document attached below.

Message from Ofsted regarding primary inspection data summary reports

We are pleased to announce that the 2019 primary inspection data summary reports (IDSR) have been updated with revised key stage 2 data, final 2019 EYFS and data for disadvantaged pupils. They are available through our new Ofsted IDSR service https://idsr.gcs501.gcfb.co.uk.

This is linked to in DfE’s Analyse School Performance (ASP) https://www.analyse-school-performance.service.gov.uk. When logged into ASP, click on ‘All reports’ and then ‘Ofsted inspection data summary reports’.

Please ensure you download the latest version dated 27 January 2020 for any school that has a primary.

Where applicable, the IDSRs hold:

• final 2019 EYFS
• revised 2019 KS2
• data for disadvantaged pupils
• two term absence
• provisional 2019 KS5, KS4, KS1, phonics and context data.

We have published a new and improved guidance document for the IDSR. This includes example reports and supporting data tables used for the 2019 IDSR which show national figures and quintile boundaries used to determine whether areas of interest sentences are triggered.

Newly added links are now located throughout the IDSR, which take you directly to the relevant section of the full guidance which is located here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/school-inspection-data-summary-report-idsr-guide
