Solihull Leaders and Managers

This news article includes a collection of training opportunities being promoted locally and nationally.

New Early Maths module added to DfE’s Online Child Development Training

The Department for Education has added a new Mathematics module to its Early years child development training. This free online training has been developed with early years experts and intends to provide a greater understanding of child development, giving practical advice for supporting children in early years settings. The training can be accessed in any order and paused and restarted at any time. A certificate of achievement is awarded on completion of each module.

FREE to access, government funded CPD for early years practitioners and childminders starting this January. Limited availability.

Forming part of the Government’s Early Years Education Recovery Package to support the early years sector post-pandemic, the Early Years Professional Development Programme (EYPDP) is an opportunity to access free CPD for early years practitioners and childminders in England. The EYPDP supports practitioners with the practical skills and tools to support the unique development needs of children aged 2-4 years through a combination of self-study learning and live webinars. Recruitment for the January cohort of the programme is now open with places filling fast. Settings can register their interest. This has a focus on early PSE, speech and language and mathematics development. It also has some funding for cover costs or extra funding to complete the training. You may want to put your setting forward for support from DfE experts and mentors [child minder link / group-setting list].  You can also sign up for Best Practice Level 3 SENCo training or NPQEYL- Early Years Leadership course which Tudor Grange Teaching School is supporting alongside others.

The above training is included in our list of speech, language and communication training on offer to Early Years providers. You can find the full list here https://www.solgrid.org.uk/eyc/resources/learning-and-development/ – Solihull SLCN training recommendations.

We are planning an official ‘launch’ of the Solihull SLCN pathway on 20th November. You will be able to hear from some of the people who are helping children get a super start with a focus on language. 20th November is World Children’s Day and has a focus on Inclusion, for every child. It is followed by World Hello Day celebrated 21st November with 2023 being the 50th year. Greet ten people in a friendly and kind way- recognising the many different languages people use to communicate a hello.
