For the attention of early years and childcare leads,

It is on 30.4.25 9.30-4.30 at Solihull Council House to book go to https://training.solihulllscp.co.uk/Course/CourseDescriptive.aspx?id=135

The guidance from SSCP is for DSLs to attend a relevant module of Solihull training each year.

Martyn’s Law- protect duty

This proposed Bill builds upon the Protect and Prepare strand of the Government’s wider counter terrorism strategy. If passed it will require you to ensure preparedness against acts of terrorism. The standard tier actions would now apply to 200 individuals (increased from 100). For your premises the required actions will be to consider how to keep all those in the building safe as part of your emergency planning and health and safety procedures. The emergency planning website includes making an emergency plan, public health incidents, emergency alerts, security related incidents amongst other guidance.

Survey on inclusive practice in early years and post-16 settings

As part of our role as Strategic Reform Partner to the Department for Education (DfE), the Council for Disabled Children (CDC) are gathering evidence of how early years settings are making their settings more inclusive and meeting the needs of a wide range of children and young people.

This survey should only take 10 minutes to complete. The survey will close on Monday 31st March 2025. The full link to the survey is here – https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/iassn/inclusive-practice-in-early-years-and-post-16-settings.

Sadly, the college event for employers was cancelled due to insufficient take-up. Solihull College will reschedule the event for the summer. We know that you find it difficult to come out to, and access, training. Is there anything we can do to help? We have recorded training so that you can join the live events or watch a recording but sometimes face to face events work better. We are looking at offering some Saturday events and evening events, but we are aware that should be time for you to rest (or do your ‘life’ work).

The weather forecast is good for this weekend- so make the most of it 😊     [sun safe video links highlighted]
