Health and safety

Have you signed up for health and safety alerts such as CAPT and do you know the symptoms of scarlet fever?

Recent alerts about the safety of baby self- feeding pillows has reminded us of the need for us to sign up for child accident prevention trust (CAPT) alerts. I’m sure you would not be using this product as it is not consistent with NHS guidance in relation to safe bottle feeding. but there may be other things you do need to be aware of for yourselves or to alert parents.

Strep A – Scarlet Fever

The latest data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) shows that scarlet fever cases continue to remain higher than we would typically see at this time of year. Scarlet fever is usually a mild illness, but it is highly infectious. Therefore, look out for symptoms in children, which include a sore throat, headache, and fever, along with a fine, pinkish or red body rash with a sandpapery feel. [see note attached to this e mail]
