Solihull Schema Play Training with Lynette Brock

We have organised Lynnette Brock from Schema Play to come to Solihull to deliver some training directly to Solihull practitioners. We have recently researched this approach with some North Solihull schools. They have found that noticing and using the fascinations of the child for future planning has a strong impact on their engagement and learning. It also helps frame discussions with parents. More details in the flier attached below along with costs and booking process.

Music -information required to support EYFS training

We are delighted to be working with Laura Lenthall from Solihull Music to develop some training for Solihull early years practitioners. Laura is in the process of creating videos with a focus on boosting confidence in music delivery in Early Years settings via simple songs. We would love every setting in Solihull to be a singing setting, using voice and songs to support learning opportunities for children. Let us know about music in your setting and sign up for access to the future resources.

Childcare -stakeholder information pack

Please find attached a collection of information about the budget announcements. The DfE communications team have developed a communications stakeholder information pack to support awareness raising of the changes and answer any questions you may be getting. I am sure we will get further information as it is available.

SENCo briefing

This week’s SENCo briefing was very well attended, and feedback told us how useful it was. The recording will be available here – https://www.solgrid.org.uk/eyc/send/training-support/

Reminder

AET- Good Autism Practice

Childminders appreciated the input from Siobhan Farrelly [SISS Autism Team] at their Leaders Network meeting. If you haven’t yet joined an AET training the flier for the next meeting is attached.

Sign up for useful news updates

I began writing this News e mail during Covid to share information from across the LA and wider updates. In conversation with providers we have made the decision to give updates via our Solgrid EYC webpages, via text [sign up for alerts] and through an on-line Leaders update on Teams [recorded to watch in your own time]. We will send out individual e mails on occasions but suggest you sign up to Newsletters from Foundation YearsOfstedChild Accident Prevention Trust  etc. for updates via e mail, as we will no longer pass them on after the summer. We shared some of these links in the notes from the Leaders and Managers Network here – https://www.solgrid.org.uk/eyc/training/ [Leaders and Managers notes]

Celebrations ……..

It was great to get feedback from people about their Outdoor Classroom activities. The weather was great for barefoot activities at Playpals Childcare. We also have Smiths Wood School celebrating their Schema Play accreditation and we have more schools who are almost there. We also have some settings ready and waiting for their Dingley’s Promise Kitemark. For those of you who sign up to the Solihull SEND Newsletter, you will have seen some of our Early Years good news stories

Well done everyone.
