SEND Strategy Review invitation

March 9, 2020

Following on from the SEND board workshop on 16 January 2020 and the parent/carer workshop on 25 February 2020, there will be four further workshop groups running in March 2020. The groups will comprise of a mix of professionals and parent/carers.

One of the sessions will be specifically for secondary schools, colleagues from other disciplines and parent carers. The other three sessions will be for everyone.

The sessions will consider the journey so far, continue to work on priority areas, develop these into a clear statement of what good will look like and how individuals can contribute to support each priority.

The new SEND strategy will be informed by Solihull’s Inclusion Code and identify the part that each individual has to play in achieving the steps towards ‘Good’.

Tricia Nicoll from In Control will be facilitating two workshops each day, at the Renewal Family Centre, Vulcan Road, Solihull B91 2HZ.

I am asking all professionals involved in working with children and young people with SEND and parent/carers to sign up to this important piece of work. It is critical that we have a representative group of parents as well as representation from early years, primary and secondary schools, special schools and specialist provision, post 16 provision, careers, health, social care and third-sector organisations.
