Virtual School Attachment and Trauma training

June 10, 2024

We have received some ongoing interest in virtual school Attachment and Trauma training below and have therefore extended our booking deadline.  For anyone interested in joining this training, please book by midday on Tuesday 11th June.

The training is taking place on Wednesday 12th June 9.30-12.30 via Zoom.

It will facilitated by specialist trainer Alun Rees.  Alun has a long history of involvement in education and in services that support looked after and vulnerable children.  Having been a secondary school headteacher he then established Leeds Virtual School in 2007.   He later moved on to lead the inclusion services for the same authority.  He now supports inclusion services and virtual schools in 10 local authorities, alongside his role working with the Department for Education and for the University of Oxford.

This training session will focus on recognising children / young people’s attachment-specific needs and how they may present in education.  Consequently it is relevant for both education professionals and social care professionals.  In addition to raising knowledge and understanding of attachment, this session will have a practical focus around how education provisions may address and support these needs.

The training is open to any staff that work with looked after and previously looked after children and children with a social worker.
