Solihull Council is hosting a virtual informational event for people who would like to find out more about becoming a foster carer.

The event takes place on Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 18 May, 6.30pm – 7.30pm, during Foster Care Fortnight – a national fostering awareness campaign running from Monday 9 May to Sunday 22 May.

Almost anyone can become a foster carer, whether you are single, married, young or retired, a home-owner or in rented accommodation.  All you need is a spare bedroom and a willingness to give a child a stable and loving home.

In return, foster carers receive an extensive support package including training and professional development as well as a generous fostering allowance.

Event attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the fostering process, speak with current foster carers about their experiences, and ask any questions they may have.

Those who would like to be part of the event on Wednesday 18 May, 6.30pm – 7.30pm, can email fosterevent@solihull.gov.uk for instructions on how to join via Microsoft Teams.

Anyone who is unable to attend the event but would like more information should call 0121 788 4253, visit www.solihull.gov.uk/fostering, or follow the fostering Facebook page – https://bit.ly/3HUUmso .
