The Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham is conducting research into views and personal lives of religious education teachers. The survey should take approximately 25 minutes to complete.

Tuesday 24 September – you and/or interested colleagues are invited to Solihull school along with a group of students (secondary) for a unique event about the extraordinary life story of Eva Schloss. Eva will take part in a Q&A after a performance of and then they came for me, a critically acclaimed play about her remarkable family history and an exhibition, the promise, about the artistic talents her brother Heinz cultivated whilst hiding from the Nazis for two years. It is the first time the play and the exhibition will be shown together.

Wednesday 25 September – CPD day for colleagues (KS2/secondary) nationwide on tackling prejudice and discrimination in a digital age: what can schools do? As well as incorporating three events of the programme outlined above, the day will also involve a series of prominent speakers and organisations who will cover a broad range of contemporary topics, whilst providing practical advice and measure for teachers interested in developing such initiatives in their own schools.

The Central Midlands Science Learning Partnership, which delivers science CPD at primary, secondary and FE level across the Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire local authority areas is holding an event for strategic partners, facilitators and interested parties on Thursday 16 May 2019 from 15.00-17.00 at Bishop Challoner Catholic College.

At the meeting they would like to explain the vision for the Science Learning Partnership going forward, discuss their plans for the forthcoming year, and make decisions about CPD which will be delivered and facilitated. On Thursday 23 May 2019, Earthwatch Institute is delivering a Discover Earth Hub Day (13.00-16:00). The session will take place in north Solihull at the Tudor Grange Academy Kingshurst site, using their outdoor education centre, including their pond zone. The address is TGA Kingshurst, Cooks Lane, Birmingham, B37 6NU.

The afternoon will be an engaging CPD training opportunity offering the tools and resources which make it easy for all teachers and educators to take learning outside and enable their students to participate in valuable citizen science. The training and resources will work across the curriculum and connect to the wider world through the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
