On Wednesday 25 September 2019, Solihull School will host a CPD day for colleagues nationwide on Tackling Prejudice and Discrimination in the Digital Age: What Can Schools Do? and they would like to invite you colleagues from your school to join us for a unique event centred around the extraordinary life story of Eva Schloss.
Eva will join you for a Q&A after a performance of And Then They Came for Me, a critically acclaimed play about her remarkable family history and an exhibition, The Promise, about the artistic talents her brother Heinz cultivated whilst hiding from the Nazis for two years. It is the first time the play and the exhibition will be shown together.
Furthermore, the day will also involve a series of prominent speakers and organisations who will cover a wide range of relevant topics, whilst providing practical advice and measures for teachers interested in developing such initiatives in their own schools. Solihull local authority will continue to offer an NQT appropriate body service for 2019/2020 and the cost remains at £50 per NQT. The registration form, full details and supporting paperwork can be found on the Solgrid education information NQT page.
The Dyspraxia Foundation West Midlands is running a course for teachers, TAs and other professionals working in schools on Monday 7 October 2019, 7-9pm at the Renewal Family Centre in Solihull. The evening will feature talks from:
- Sally Payne, Occupational Therapist and Trustee of the Foundation
- Jo Shilton and Jo Walker from the Specialist Inclusion and Support Service (SISS) in Solihull
- Lorraine Mattocks, Parent Advisor to the Dyspraxia Foundation West Midlands team and parent of a son with dyspraxia.
There will also be contributions from Tim Trivizas and Imogen Rowe, Youth Champions of the Dyspraxia Foundation.
Refreshments will be provided and there will be an opportunity to ask questions and to meet other professionals working in education.

This year, for the first time, we are holding our conference in the stimulating environment of the Black Country Living Museum. We are delighted to have Martin Phillips and Benjamin Smith as our keynote speakers.
There will be a providers' exhibition and, as an additional bonus, delegates will be free to explore the Black Country Living Museum after the forum at no extra cost to the conference fee.

The start of the new academic term marks the launch of the Social Emotional and Mental Health High Needs (SEMH HN) Pathway. The purpose of the pathway is to reduce risk of exclusions for children presenting with SEMH needs and has been adapted to anticipate the launch of the Emotionally Based School Avoidance pathway, due to be launched in October.
The work of the SEMH High Needs team is primarily to support the prevention of exclusion through early intervention and responsive support.
