The Sustainable Development Team is looking for schools to create 3D art to be displayed in shop windows and the Library in Solihull Town Centre for the Fairtrade Trail. The trail sheets and maps will be available over the February half term and the following week. This year’s theme is ‘Tea’, a resource pack is available for schools from charlotte.oliver@solihull.gov.uk Art work must be finished by the 13th February 2019 and can be collected from schools.

FREE Session to Introduce Teaching for Mastery.

The Central Maths Hub are pleased to announce that this FREE event will be held throughout the year to support Secondary colleagues.
These practical and hands-on sessions are an introduction to Teaching Maths for Mastery in secondary schools. We will look at the Five Big Ideas of Teaching for Mastery and will focus on the key ideas of:

  • procedural and conceptual variation
  • mathematical thinking
  • representation and structure

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2019, Solihull School and The Anne Frank Trust UK are very pleased to invite you and a group of your students to the European Schools’ premiere of the highly acclaimed documentary No Asylum: The Untold Chapter of Anne Frank’s Story and to a Q&A afterwards with Holocaust survivors Tomi Reichental and Mindu Hornick. Eva Schloss MBE, Anne Frank's step-sister will also be attending the screening.

This will take place at Solihull School, 793 Warwick Road, Solihull B91 3DJ as part of a series of events and activities to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2019. Please see the attached letter and link for further details.

The letter attached below contains an important message regarding dental services on school premises. Please note that it does not relate to activity carried out by Community Dental Services (mobile unit) or other organisations as part of the National Epidemiology Programme for England: Oral Health Survey of 5-Year-Old children which takes place every other year and is due again during the academic year 2018/2019. These Dental Teams are commissioned by the Local Authority and NHS England would encourage all schools approached to support this survey.
