This session will equip personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) leads to prepare for statutory RSE through auditing their subject area.

Staff delivering RSE will increase their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and the changes that are enshrined in law from 2020. There will be updates on a range of sexual health issues, engaging with stakeholders and ensuring that teaching meets the needs of learners. Sessions will be delivered by staff from Umbrella, Loud Mouth, Jigsaw PSHE and the Solihull school improvement team.

Staff are able to opt into relevant sessions (see attached agenda) or attend for the whole day (lunch provided).

Please email inset@solihull.gov.uk  to book your free places. The session will take place on June 18, 2019 at Sans Souci training centre, 9am - 4pm.

This training is for new NQT mentors or those who have not had training for 2 years or more.

It will take place on Monday 8 July, 1pm - 4pm at Sans Souci and will be led by the senior education improvement adviser with responsibility for NQTs. Cost £70.

The training will help mentors to understand their statutory responsibilities and how to support NQTs to be successful in their induction.

To apply, please email inset@solihull.gov.uk stating your name and school.

Through consultation with Solihull schools' strategic accountability board (SSSAB) we are issuing a new data sharing agreement to all schools.

The current data sharing agreement only allows the data sharing early where it is due to be in the public domain. The revised agreement would allow the local authority to share appropriate data with the Solihull schools' teaching alliance, earlier, when it becomes available in July.  This would enable the alliance to target support to schools in a timelier manner.

This proposal has gone to SSSAB and it is in full support of the new agreement. Please read through the attached agreement and if you are satisfied, sign it and send it to edperfdata@solihull.gov.uk.

We can then implement the new arrangements for the 2019 results, provided we receive the signed agreements by the end of June 2019.

Kooth is an online counselling and emotional well-being support service for children and young people. Kooth is a completely safe and an anonymous website where young people can go to gain advice, support and guidance from our BACP qualified counsellors, up to 10pm, 365 days a year.

Our experienced counsellors, moderated message forums and magazine can offer emotional support to young people with a wide range of issues, from having a bad day or falling out with their friends, to more serious issues such as bullying, stress, anxiety, depression, family relationships, sexuality, eating disorders, self-harm, abuse etc. We can also support young people who are on the waiting list for CAMHS or those who do not meet their criteria.

For year 6 students who will soon be transitioning to secondary schools it may be an exciting time but may also cause anxiety and stress in others. Kooth has supported many year 6 students at this stage by discussing Kooth's services and how it can provide additional support and guidance should they wish. Kooth can also support vulnerable young people who may experience isolation or low self-esteem and help build their resilience for the big changes ahead.

If you would like to have a discussion or arrange for a short presentation to be delivered to your students please contact Jas Hothi, jhothi@xenzone.com or call 07949 819503.
