Over the last few years, the Council and its partners have commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day by holding a service in Solihull. The service has developed year on year. The aim is for Holocaust Memorial Day to continue in 2018, involving Solihull’s schools and colleges.

Counter Terrorism Policing in collaboration with the PSHE Association and Girlguiding have produced a Run, Hide, Tell resource pack for teachers to use to inform 11-16 year olds on how best to react to a gun or knife terror attack. The resource includes training films, lesson plans for key stage 3 and key stage 4 as well as teacher guidance on how to deliver this material confidently and safety.

Using external sports coaches - the Coaching in Primary Schools Toolkit has been developed by a range of experts in PE and sport to provide useful advice on how to recruit and deploy external coaches in primary schools effectively.

To support Councils with the first year of delivery, and to enable them to support providers to deliver sufficient 30 hours places, the Department for Education (DfE) has established a Delivery Support Fund (DSF). This fund will be made available to Councils via a bid round. Funding will be available for work that directly benefits 30 hours delivery and will create (directly or indirectly) new 30 hours places for the 2018 Summer Term.

Working with Solihull CCG, the Council has commissioned a new resource in Solihull to support children and young people aged 11-25 years with their emotional and mental health and wellbeing.

The Eat Well Move More Team are on hand to offer support and guidance to schools who would like to set up the Daily Mile initiative. The aim of the Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children – regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances.
