Loss of schools’ connectivity – Wednesday 14 September – Note change of date

September 8, 2016

There will be a loss of schools’ connectivity for about ten minutes at some point between 6pm and 7pm (evening) on Wednesday 14 September 2016.

We had originally told you that this would be on Friday 9 September.  We apologise for this late change and the inconvenience the change may cause you

This will affect all connectivity between schools and Solihull council. Users in schools between 6 pm and 8 pm will be affected for 10 minutes. They will not be able to access the internet, external email, Oracle or the Solgrid extranet.  Users at home will not be able to access school services where they usually have remote access.

As part of the Touchwood development we have built a new data centre under the Civic Suite to free up space elsewhere. The data centre has two data links for the school network which need to be moved in stages.  The impact will be:

  • Wednesday 14 September – 10 minutes outage between 6 pm and 8 pm
  • Sunday 18 September – 10 minutes outage between 1 pm and 3 pm
  • Sunday 25 September – 2 hours outage between 12 noon and 4 pm

We will be putting more updates on www.solgrid.org.uk – where you will be able to find out our progress.  We will also tweet updates (@SolgridITNews).
