The CPD event is appropriate for both primary and secondary schools.
This session will equip personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) leads to prepare for statutory RSE through auditing their subject area.
Staff delivering RSE will increase their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and the changes that are enshrined in law from 2020. There will be updates on a range of sexual health issues, engaging with stakeholders and ensuring that teaching meets the needs of learners. Sessions will be delivered by staff from Umbrella, Loud Mouth, Jigsaw PSHE and the Solihull school improvement team.
Staff are able to opt into relevant sessions (see attached agenda) or attend for the whole day (lunch provided).

The Inter Faith Network for the UK has officially launched the 2019 Inter Faith Week programme. We hope that you will be getting involved this year and also encouraging your organisation, members and contacts to get involved! Inter Faith Week 2019 will take place between 10 November 2019 and 17 November 2019.

It is open to all PSHE education teachers in the West Midlands, with priority given to those from Birmingham and surrounding areas if over-subscribed. The session will explore what makes young people vulnerable to radicalisation, and the protective and preventative factors PSHE education can develop to reduce extremism risks.
The twilight is provided with funding from the Home Office as part of its ‘Building a Stronger Britain Together’ programme, awarded by the London Community Foundation programme.
Attendees will gain practical support to review, plan and implement a PSHE education curriculum that effectively safeguards pupils, including:
- Awareness of the knowledge, skills and attributes PSHE education develops to support resilience to extremist ideologies of all kinds
- An increased understanding of extremism, the process of radicalisation and of PSHE education’s role in safeguarding pupils, in line with schools’ statutory duties
- Knowledge of resources to support safe and effective lesson delivery

On Wednesday 25 September 2019, Solihull School will host a CPD day for colleagues nationwide on Tackling Prejudice and Discrimination in the Digital Age: What Can Schools Do? and they would like to invite you colleagues from your school to join us for a unique event centred around the extraordinary life story of Eva Schloss.
Eva will join you for a Q&A after a performance of And Then They Came for Me, a critically acclaimed play about her remarkable family history and an exhibition, The Promise, about the artistic talents her brother Heinz cultivated whilst hiding from the Nazis for two years. It is the first time the play and the exhibition will be shown together.
Furthermore, the day will also involve a series of prominent speakers and organisations who will cover a wide range of relevant topics, whilst providing practical advice and measures for teachers interested in developing such initiatives in their own schools.
