Please find attached letter from Phil Leivers, Assistant Director and Adrian Cattell, Head of Human Resources regarding all services cleared to work unsupervised in schools/colleges consistent with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2018.
In order to provide elected members with a better understanding of the measures schools and colleges have taken here in Solihull to support pupils who may be facing difficulty in accessing appropriate sanitary protection, we ask that you complete a short survey by the 31 March 2019.
There is an accompanying letter attached.
Please sign the Solihull zero suicide pledge as part of the council’s action plan to reduce suicides in Solihull.
Solihull Council has taken the pledge and has made a commitment to look out for your wellbeing. We also ask you to look out for the wellbeing of each other.
The pledge is all about looking after family, friends and colleagues, becoming more aware of any concerning changes and asking if they are OK. You can make your personal pledge here. The pledge has a link to online training to help you spot the warning signs in other and signpost others to help.

There is a range of support resources available to schools on the Solgrid website including a toolkit from the Samaritans specifically focussed on how schools can respond in the event of a completed or attempted suicide.
The NSPCC has published Suicide: learning from case reviews, a summary of risk factors and learning for improved practice around suicide. This is available from here.
We need to talk about suicide is an eLearning programme for all schools, except infant schools. The programme is specifically aimed at making sure that everyone in contact with the public, in whatever role, knows how to spot any signs of mental distress and feel comfortable in talking about suicide. The programme supports learning and development in suicide competence at level one.
