Family support worker meeting – north Solihull

Caitlin Watts (FSS north) James Hodgetts (FSS north) and Toni Clifton (MASH) are looking to hold a family support worker and DSL networking meeting. This will be held at the Bluebell Centre in Chelmsley Wood so that as part of the meeting you will be able to have a walk around of the office and meet people within the teams. The aim of this network meeting is to improve communication between children’s services and schools in the north of Solihull, share an improved understanding of common issues and themes in working together and deliver training in some of the key areas highlighted at the family support worker meeting on Friday 17 May 2019.

We are hoping that this will be the first of many meetings and the ideas we have so far that we would like to include in this session and those moving forwards are;

  • Thresholds and referrals
  • Escalation and de-escalation within children’s services
  • Effective direct work tools for working with children and families
  • A brief overview of children’s services processes and legislation

Joel Desous (Head of Service) will also be in attendance at the first one to give you all a briefing about the new structure (that was implemented on 1 April 2019).

An email has been sent to family support workers asking them to vote on a preferred date. Options being;

Thursday 13 June – 12pm – 2pm

or

Thursday 26 June – 10am – 12pm

If anyone has any questions about this meeting or suggestions for further meetings in the future, please do contact me Toni Clifton on 0121 7884300 or toni.Clifton@Solihull.gov.uk.

We are looking forward to getting started!
