Agreement has been now reached between the National Employers and the NJC Trade Union Side on rates of pay applicable from 1 April 2018 and 1 April 2019. Please see document attached below for full details and link to pay scales.

We would like to make schools aware that charges have been published within the School budget Workbook for the period April to August 2018 at a cost based on employee head using the same basis as the other HR charges for Advisory and Payroll & Employee Services. Schools need to be aware that this is a part year cost only.

The current contract for Occupational Health with Coventry City Council expires on 31 August 2018 and as the contact has previously been extended it will be necessary to tender for this service.  The value of this contract is approximately £160,000 annually.  The occupational health service currently provided mainly consists of management referrals where medical advice is required concerning an employee’s health/attendance, pre-employment medical checks and counselling.  Flu vaccinations are also offered to employees who provide front line services.  Employees’ are issued with an electronic voucher which they can take to their nearest Boots to have the vaccination.

Although there are a number of occupational health providers, there is a requirement for a presence within the Borough given the need for employees to have face to face appointments with occupational health staff.   This therefore restricts the number of organisations who can realistically provide the service.  The tender specification will request that providers are able to specify the occupational health costs incurred by each school.

The occupational health costs will be £25 per employee (pro-rata) so £10.42 for the period April to August 2018.  This will need to be reviewed following completion of the tender process when a contract has been awarded  and costs are known.

We would like to invite a Head teacher to be part of the tender evaluation exercise and would be pleased if you could make contact with me if you would like to take part in this important exercise.
